If you have read the first 3 books you know where the last one left off.Astra is waiting for the final thing that she needs to break the curse (the kiss of a child of a vampire)she helped Thomas and Tate escape from the creature and they promised in return they would help get her the 3 things she needs to break the curse so she can get off the mountain. She looks up and she sees the Hawk and Gavenia drops the pouch into her hands and fly's away. Astra calls out to Baxter and tells him that she has the pouch and that Gavenia is back on her way home. She wants to him to tell everyone thank you for everything they have done. He says that you can tell them when you get off the mountain.
Thomas is just so happy to be reunited with his with Lady Lara and his daughter LaraLynn that he's having trouble sleeping because he's afraid that when he wakes up they will be gone. Lara knows she's the one that put the sadness in his eyes and she's going to do everything she can to make it right. She's never going to leave him again. She only did it because of Jario and he kept coming after Lara and she knew Velsa would protect for a price. She was just happy they found a loophole once again.
LaraLynn, well she was very happy to know her father, but she wasn't use to living in a castle. She was use to being outside and being with her friends. Then she found out that she had these talents. She wanted to learn how to hunt, how to use a bow and she wanted Baxter to teach her. He was more than willing. He wanted to her to choose him and not because she had to because she wanted to. He was willing to wait but he didn't like when other guys was with her.
Velsa was still making plans on how to get Gautier back, because somehow Jario messed up and he got himself put into his dagger by Gautier but not before he turned Killian into stone When he was protecting Kayleigh from Jario. When Alicia seen what happened to Killian she had a little break down. She promised him that she would find a way to break the curse. Her wolf wouldn't even come out because she missed him so much. Then one afternoon she was sitting outside talking to his stone wolf and he talked back to her. She was so happy it made her more determined to break the curse and he told her wolf to go and play. So her and Kayleigh went and played. Desirae is a witch that makes you want to cheer for. Velsa killed her sister. She just wants to help take her down so she's reading every book she can find. That means going to Dragons Claw Castle but she's not their long because Magna shows up. Yep she's alive. So she grabs her books and goes back to Black Thistle Castle and tells them what she's knows and it's to late because LaraLynn is out hunting with her father and their hunter when a stag hurts the hunter when her father goes to get water from a stream Franco the one that killed her father's family shows up and wants to turn her. Her father shows up and they fight and Franco dies. She's working to save her father and the hunter then Magna showes up and she's mad because Franco is dead. She wants to take LaraLynn back to Dragon Claw Castle so her and Seth can mess with her. Then before she an do anything Magna just drops to the ground and behind her is an old woman with the heart in her hands and she stomps on it until theirs nothing left. LaraLynn ask who she is but she just walks away. Before LaraLynn blacks out she calls out for Baxter.
Her mother knows it was Velsa that saved her life.
Astra loved meeting the people that saved her. But when she was shaking the men's hands something happened and she had marked one of them and she didn't know which one. She didn't do it on purpose and she couldn't take it back. He was her true mate.
Velsa had set a trap one evening so when the girl went for their run she Knew Kayleigh would get caught in the trap, and Alicia wouldn't be strong enough to open it and would have to go back and get help. It was perfect and it did work just like she had planned. But Gautier was smarter than her and had a spell that showed him who had done this to his mate and it showed him and Lady Lara it was Velsa.
It was time! They had to get together and take her down. And make her pay for everything she has done.

Shattering Obscurity ( Evergreen Series #4) by Joann Herley is the final book in the series and I didn't want it to end, sigh. There is so much happening to all the characters in this one that I was overjoyed to read and experience their journey in this book.
Returning to Evergreen Castle, Thomas and Lady Lara with Laralynn sets the stage for the beginning of the book. Thomas will get to know his daughter Laralynn and Laralynn will discover that she may be human but she has magic inside her.
Magna and Velsa still seek revenge on others but different in their quest. Magna wants to free Jario and hurt Thomas and Lady Lara. Velsa wants revenge against Guthier and Kayleigh, especially Kayleigh for she took the man Velsa loved.
Desirae and Alicia are still searching the books for clues to the War of the Witches, hoping to find loopholes. What they find is the books hidden in different places. What are the witches of the past trying to tell them? And what will happen when the spirits of Deora, Ida and Ingrid visit Astra's mind one night? The parts of this story will take you on a quest for sure.
Astra returns to Primrose Pond after escaping from the mountain she had been prisoner on.
Velsa is still posing as Aslev and gets Lady Lara to agree to let Laralynn visit her at her cottage in Primrose Pond. Will Aslev's love for Laralynn cause her to kill Magna? This part of the story is so intense.
Baxter, Tate and the rest of the crew have very interesting stories of their own to tell. Baxter loves Laralynn, but does she? And will they finally find a way to release Killian from his stone statue? You will also meet Franco in here but what is he connected to or who will remember him from the past?
A wild, crazy, intense, emotional ending for this series. There is so much happening in the book I could go on and on, but I am hoping that readers will grab all of this series to read. They are a most magical ride. A Must Read!!! Suitable for YA, PNR and Beautiful Romance Lovers who want to get lost in a world you'll Love.

I just finished this book. It was amazing. The whole series is captivating. This is om my list to read again.
This final chapter of the evergreen series was even better than the other three. New and old allies coming together, unions being formed, foes being defeated (Or are they), families learning to be just family, lovers learning to love and trust. As with her other books I was always surprised with each page I turned. Witches are freed, some seeking vengeance and some seeking freedom Hopeful lovers learn to trust one another. Family ties need to be strengthen. I loved all the vampires, shifters, and witches in this story, both the good and the bad for with out them and the roles they played there would be no series. Ms. Herley spins a magical believe tale with her words that once again brings Evergreen castle and the area around it to life. But you really do need to read these books in order to get a full feel for them and to get the best enjoyment out of them.
